Like a real tan, your fake tan will fade faster in the sea or a pool as the chlorine and salt encourage a faster cell turnover. We would recommend to do a light top up of your favourite tanner at the end of the day to keep your colour for longer.
Fake It Don't Bake It
Did you know there are around 168,000 new skin cancer cases in the UK every year?
Did you know up to 86% are preventable?
Did you know skin cancer accounts for more than breast, prostate and lung combined?
If you thought this was on the decline, you’d be wrong: over the last decade, rates have shockingly increased by around a third. And it’s not just about skin cancer… Did you know that the sun's ultraviolet radiation is responsible for up to 80% of facial aging? Wrinkling, dryness, sagging and pigmentation can all be the result of those years spent baking in the sunshine.

Your questions, ANSWERED
Does fake tan come off in the pool?
Does fake tan cause cancer?
There is absolutely no evidence that fake tan causes cancer. All Skinny Tan products are made with up to 99% naturally derived ingredients and are vegan friendly, meaning they’re kind to your skin.
Does fake tan stop you from tanning?
A self tan offers zero sun protection and will therefore not stop you from tanning naturally. You can and will tan through your fake tan, so be sure to use an SPF product to stay sun safe.
How long does fake tan take to develop?
Our hero tanners fully develop in 6-8 hours, but if you’re after a faster result our Express products can be washed off in as little as one hour.
Can you put sunscreen over fake tan?
Yes, absolutely - you can and you should! Once your tan has developed and you've rinsed off the initial guide colour, we advise to apply SPF over the top to ensure you're fully protected from the sun's damaging UV rays.
